Countryside progressively goes from grazing to cropping, as you come down from the low hills of Burra into some good cropping country around Crystal Brook in the southern Flinders Ranges

    Lunch at Port Pirie,

Port Augusta

 Drove up to Pt Augusta, and down to Whyalla, around the Bay.

Currently a lot going on in Whyalla, with the steel works owned by Arrium going into administration.
Had dinner at the South Wyhalla Football club, the Demons, so talked to the locals.
Everyone here is involved with or has family involved in the steel industry, with many workers retiring here, because it is a beautiful spot on the sea.

There is no other employment here, except Arrium, or the industries that service it, so it will be a crisis if it does fold.


Stayed at the Whyalla Caravan Park right on the beach, great spot.
